The Orly run in practice

Orly is the closer of the two main Paris airports: roughly twenty kilometres from the centre, or 30 to 45 minutes depending on the hour. The route normally follows the A6, which is heavy southbound in the morning and northbound at the end of the day.

Since the airport was reorganised, the former South and West terminals became Orly 1, 2, 3 and 4. The number appears on your ticket or boarding pass: give it when booking so you are dropped at the right door rather than at the far end of the complex.

For an early flight, plan to arrive two hours before departure on a European service. Leaving central Paris at five in the morning, the roads are clear and the journey often takes under thirty minutes.

Private driver, taxi or Orlyval: the real maths

Orlyval combined with the RER B costs about €15 per person and takes roughly forty minutes from Châtelet including the change. That is fine alone with hand luggage, considerably less so with a suitcase and a child.

The regulated taxi fare from Paris to Orly is about €44 from the Left Bank and €50 from the Right Bank. Our distance-based rate works out at around €40 from the centre: the gap is small, and the real benefit lies in booking ahead at a price known before you get in.
